Community Service Activity – Citymeals-on-Wheels
Our volunteer activity is with Citymeals-on-Wheels, which provides a continuous lifeline of nutritious food and human company to homebound elderly New Yorkers in need, helping them to live with dignity in their own familiar homes and communities.
We will be meeting at Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center, 415 East 93rd Street, New York, NY 10128. We’ll meet in front of the building, which is offset from the street.
Hermanas and others who want to volunteer should arrive promptly at 9:00 am. Our shift begins at 9:30 am and we’ll need instructions and assignments beforehand. Please be on time.
We have to have an advanced commitment so that we can confirm the exact number of volunteers with Citymeals-on-Wheels.
Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the number of people you will be coming with to volunteer.
Volunteers will delivery nutritious meals to the frail homebound elderly neighbors, all within walking distance of the senior center. You should wear weather appropriate/comfortable clothing & shoes. Also know that, although the weather may not be favorable, the meals MUST be delivered.
Banquet Dinner – Guantanamera
Hermanas, family and friends will come together for dinner at Guantanamera, a vibrant, fun, Cuban restaurant featuring warm, and friendly service, excellent traditional Cuban food, magnificent mojitos, complimentary hand-rolled cigars, and Live Cuban music.
Guantanamera offers the rare pleasures of Old Havana. Guantanamera’s interior exudes colonial Havana chic with its hand-painted folkloric murals, original Cuban art, candle lighting, and rattan-covered ceiling fans.
Guantanamera is located at 939 8th Ave (57th & 8th), New York, NY 10019. We will be located in the downstairs dining room. A cash bar will be made available for us.
Dinner will start promptly at 7:00pm, so it is recommended that you arrive at 6:45pm. Guests will be able to choose from several menu options (appetizers are served family style). Seating is limited, so Hermanas and their friends and family members must make formal reservations in advance if they want to attend.
The dinner is $60 per person. Formal reservations can be through PayPal until Monday, March 18.
